Below is the list of “Frequently Asked Questions”
-
Getting Started:
-
- Are there any important things to remember when setting up my profile?
- You cannot change your screen name so choose wisely.
- You must be at least 13 years of age.
- No special characters can be used just letters, numbers and underscores
- “I’m an institution not a person, why can’t I be less than 13?”
- The system makes no distinction, if your gallery, museum art collaborative or whatever isn’t 13, just pick a date that has some relevance to you that meets the age requirement.
- The image size for your Avatar or main profile picture is 160x120.
- To find out what is happening with your circle of friends go to “my home”. You will see the latest posts and uploads right at your fingertips.
- This community loves all things ART.
-
How do I add my Media?:
-
- Photos:
- Photo(s) must be in JPEG, PNG, or GIF format (no progressive JPGs or animated GIFs) and must not be greater than 100 MB.
- For better quality presentation, make sure your images are at 72 dpi and fit within these dimensions: 640x480 (best) or 480x640. Better image quality and custom sizing is one our top priorities for additions to the site.
- Blogging:
- Blogging is very similar to other sites. Just cut and paste images or text right into the blog window.
- Although it’s easy to embed images, we can’t support YouTube or other video within the blogs. We are working on it though.
- Video:
- Video(s) must be in .flv, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .mov, .3gp, .mpg, .mpeg, or .mp4 format, 100 MB limit.
- We encode all videos into Flash (FLV) files. The full details are:
- Bitrate: 750kbps 20 frames per second (fps)
- 420px wide x 316 px high
- Codec: on2 vp6 FLV
- Audio codec: MP3
- Audio bitrate: 48kbps
- Audio sample rate: 22.05 mhz Stereo
- You can also use your own webcam to upload videos, this may differ depending on what webcam you are using.
- Audio:
- Audio file(s) must be in MP3 format, and no greater than 100 MB.
- You can add multiple audio files at one time as well, just click on “Add Multiple Files”
- Be sure to have your thumbnail image ready at the time you upload your file. You cannot add one after the MP3 uploaded.
- “Why does my audio sound weird, play fast or sound like a chipmunk is singing?”
- Your audio file may be encoded at a sampling rate that our audio player doesn’t support. As our player is built in Flash, it can only accept files that have been encoded at multiples of 11.025 kHz. Try encoding your file at 11.025 kHz, 22.050 kHz, or 44.100 kHz, and upload it again.
* Remember to add tags and descriptions to each of the media you upload. This helps other members find it!
* BEWARE, the site times out quickly. You may need to write your blog or long description in Word or Notepad so you can copy/paste it into the form faster.
-

- The subject line will be the title

- The picture MUST be an attachment.
-
Uploading files via email
-
Tips for uploading
- Anything you upload via email is subject to the usual requirements (file types, file sizes, and appropriate content).
- Only address the email to your upload address (don't Cc other recipients).
- Use your cell phone to upload photos and videos as an attachment.
- Use your email subject line to add a title to your files and your email body to add a description (plain text only).
- Be patient: email uploads often need more time for processing, depending on your carrier. We cannot support Sprint or T-Mobile phones yet.
-
How do I get more exposure?:

You can also tag your profile as a whole with keywords that describe the art you are interested in and the art you create. You can edit these by going to My Home, Edit My Profile.
