Ovation to Air the U.S. Premiere of William and Kate: A Modern Royal Romance
Ovation’s Week-long Programming Event -- “The Royals”-- Also Features the US Premieres of Icons: Diana; Royal Opulence; Princess Diana: Her Life in Jewels and Diana Everlasting
SANTA MONICA – January 19, 2011: In celebration of the most highly anticipated royal wedding in 30 years, Ovation will air the U.S. premiere of William and Kate: A Modern Royal Romance on Wednesday, February 9 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. The documentary is airing as part of a week-long programming event called “The Royals,” which focuses on the cultural impact of the Windsor family throughout the years.
William and Kate: A Modern Royal Romance chronicles the relationship of the young Prince William and his beautiful commoner girlfriend, Kate Middleton, from courtship to their very public engagement. This documentary takes a look at their backgrounds, their initial meetings and plans for the pending wedding that the whole world is anxiously awaiting. Also premiering on Ovation as part of “The Royals” programming event are three documentaries exploring the style and influence of the royal family’s most celebrated princess--Princess Diana. Icons: Diana debuts Wednesday, February 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT and documents this icon of style and philanthropy through her short and chaotic life. Princess Diana: Her Life in Jewels premieres Saturday, February 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and looks at the significance of Diana’s gems and some of the most elaborate jewelry pieces ever created. Diana Everlasting, premiering Saturday, February 12 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, examines the extraordinary way Diana lived her life, breaking with the ritual distance members of the royal family traditionally kept with the public and dedicating her time to helping others.
In addition, the U.S. premiere of Royal Opulence, a documentary on the elegant and sometimes decadent lives of royal families from Britain to Monaco to Denmark, will air Thursday, February 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Royal Opulence will by followed by a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of The King’s Speech at 8:30 p.m. and Bertie and Elizabeth at 9:00 p.m.-- a film about how King George VI met his true love Elizabeth, overcame his crippling stutter and his speedy ascension to the throne.
