Starring Dawn O’Porter, the Six-Part Series on Updating Vintage Fashion Will
Have its US Debut on Ovation
MIPCOM: Cannes – October 14, 2014 Ovation, America’s Only Arts Network, has acquired the US television premiere rights to the six-part series This Old Thing from Zodiak Rights. The announcement was made today at the Mipcom conference in Cannes by Scott Woodward, SVP of Programming and Production, Ovation and Janet Robinson, VP Sales and Acquisitions, Zodiak Rights.
Presenting a stylish alternative to disposable fashion, host Dawn O’Porter shows viewers how to look for lost classics in vintage shops, high end boutiques and relatives’ attics to prove that clothes from the past can be clothes of the future with a little imagination and artistic flair. Along with her expert guests, she explores the history of fashion, revealing key influences on what we wear today. Dawn also gives viewers practical demonstrations from her Wardrobe Workshop on how to bring tired clothing up to date by customizing, repairing and reinventing old pieces into exciting new outfits.
“This is a gem of a show that works so well with Ovation’s mission of presenting programming that shows art is everywhere,” says Woodward. “We just loved Dawn’s wonderful, infectious energy and enthusiasm. She’s always ready to take on an obsessive trend chaser or seemingly impossible fashion challenge to show you how you can achieve great individual style.”
This Old Thing originally premiered on Channel 4 in the UK in June and drew 1.4 million viewers for the debut episode. The series regularly ranked in the top ten tweeted about programs. The series is produced by RDF Television West and Andrew Anderson is executive producer.
