Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - A new weekly original music series featuring some of the hottest bands and artists touring the U.S. will soon premiere on Ovation TV. The one-hour "Bonefish Grill's Notes From The Road" will premiere August 7.
The debut episode will feature live performances and candid conversations with one of today's most popular bands, The Bravery. Since their debut album was released in 2005, the modern New York rock band has been winning fans both in the U.K. and the U.S. Three albums later, and with a growing fan base garnered from their near constant touring schedule, The Bravery has a major hit with their single "Believe."
Kris Slava, senior vice president of programming and production at Ovation TV talked to Celebrity News Service about the style of the show and what viewers can expect to see. "There is no on-camera host. The show features the artists talking extensive straight-to-camera. No intermediary, just the artists telling about their unique personal experience of being on the road, on tour. This can often involve getting into their inspirations, their creative process, history - all the things that bubble up when you are out away from home, living your art night after night for weeks and months at a time," he said.
Slava went on to say that all of the artists on the show will be at least somewhat established, some will even have massive followings, but all will be relatively recent. Scheduled artists in upcoming episodes include 3 Doors Down, Josh Kelley, Gavin DeGraw, Vanessa Carlton, Ben Folds, Jason Mraz and Matisyahu.
Each hour-long episode is shot on location at a Bonefish Grill restaurant, the show's sponsor, and is imprinted with the guest artist's personality, viewpoint, experiences and music.
The series will also include a weekly vignette dedicated to the Ocean Trust, an award-winning ocean conservation foundation that is building science, conservation and industry partnerships for the sustainability of the oceans and providing a link to sustainable fisheries, wildlife and the environment.
"Music has always been an essential part of the atmosphere at our restaurants," said John Cooper, president of Bonefish Grill. "So it was natural for us host this concert series. But the real thrill is bringing our love of music and great food together with our commitment to Ocean Trust. It feels good to put our passions to work for such a worthy cause."
Slava told CNS more about the Ocean Trust segment and how it will fit into the show. "We won't struggle hard to try to 'integrate' it into the show - it is an incredibly important cause, something that both Bonefish Grill and the network are committed to. We will just present it very straightforwardly, because we think it is something that people will really want to hear about and will respond to."
Music, which touches so many people, is a big part of Ovation TV. "Live music is maybe THE art form that people respond to most emotionally. We're already doing a lot of it on Ovation TV - every Thursday night is completely devoted to music and musicians. And we're cooking up plans to do even more," Slava told CNS. "But the reason that 'Bonefish Grill's Notes From the Road' especially appealed to us was that it gives people a chance to see favorite musicians play favorite songs, AND to get a chance to know them better. It just seemed like a perfect mix for a TV music show."
Beginning in September, XM Radio will broadcast each episode of "Bonefish Grill's Notes From The Road" on a variety of its music channels, including Flight 26 (XM 26), Ethel (XM 47) and Starbucks XM Café (XM 45).
