From Playboy centerfold to founder of one of the hottest design firms in Los Angeles: meet Kelly Wearstler. Born Kelly Gallagher in 1967 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, she attended the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Her first major public exposure came via Playboy magazine, where she was the Playmate of the Month in September 1994. At that time, she listed her ambitions as "To own my own marvelous design and furnishings business" - judging from her subsequent career, her wishes have come true. Her firm, KWID, has been a fixture of the design landscape since 1996. The firm specializes in defining and transforming recreational spaces such as beach resorts and restaurants, bringing to them Kelly's signature wit and clean, stylish, sense of glamour. Her work also extends to the homes of the rich and famous, and she has been honored by House Beautiful as one of the current best designers for five years running. Two books - Modern Glamour and Domicilium Decoratus - round out her creative portfolio.
