Have you ever looked at a two-dimensional object and imagined extending it out and into something totally different? If you have, then you have something in common with artist Sarah Cromarty. Born in 1980 in Florida, Cromarty studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and now lives in Los Angeles. Her mixed media work often starts with landscape prints purchased from a second-hand store. Through a combination of collage, cutting, remounting, and pasting the prints become sculpture. She uses wood, fluorescent oil paint, vintage LP covers, and other objects to fabricate a world all her own. Cromarty's work has appeared in solo and group shows in galleries including Circus Gallery, Paul Kopeikin Gallery and sixspace.
