Carrie Schneider

Carrie Schneider is making the leap from art school training to professional artist, with critical acclaim for her direct and personal images. Born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1979, Schneider received her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2007. Her photographic work includes images that put the human body in a startling relationship to its surroundings - from a hang-out at a bar to an endless body of icy water to mirroring the body of another. In addition to her exhibitions at the Monique Meloche Gallery, Schenider's work has also been shown at the Gallery 44 in Toronto, Rowland Contemporary in Chicago, and the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh. Scheider won a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the Kuvataideakatemia (Academy of Fine Arts) of Helsinki, Finland.
