John Cale

John_cale_160x120

John Cale, musician, composer, producer, and performer, emigrated to the US in the early 1960s and quickly became involved in the avant-garde music scene. One of the few musicians who has performed music in every genre from classical to punk rock, Cale's stereotypical rocker lifestyle and brilliant musicianship have made him one of the most respected music men around. Along with Lou Reed, Cale founded the legendary group The Velvet Underground, who were taken under the wing of Andy Warhol's Factory, and remained one of the leading rock groups until Cale's departure in 1968. In 1990, the group briefly reunited and released a tribute album to Andy Warhol, their recently-departed mentor.
