Richard Collier is a young playwright. On opening night of his first play a woman approaches him with a gift and tells him to come back to her, but who is it? Richard stumbles across her picture in an old hotel and realizes she is Elise McKenna, a famous actress from decades ago. With the power of self-hypnosis, Richard is able to transport himself back in time to meet, and subsequently fall in love with, Elise.
