James Castle: Portrait of an Artist
Friends, family, fellow artists and gallery insiders give a wealth of insight into the life of the late James Castle, a deaf, self-taught, American folk artist who learned to communicate effectively through his art. His drawings differentiate from the norm in that they are created with any accessible materials, such as using stove soot as ink. While much of his acclaim came after his death, Castle has provided an unconventional approach to art that broadens the mind to contemplate.
