Electric Purgatory
From its earliest beginnings, rock n roll music was performed predominantly by black artists, but over the decades the number has steadily dwindled. The few remaining black artists left in rock n roll must rock harder and shout louder in order to be heard. In Electric Purgatory, we travel throughout the United States interviewing many of black rock's current elite, including Fishbone, Vernon Reid, Adam Falcon, Jimi Hazel and Cody Chesnutt. This film will trace the origins of rock n roll and the relevance of black rock artists in the music industry, as well as the stigma black rock musicians face in the black community today, and how they continue to break new ground in the rock genre.
