THIS IS WHAT HARD WORK LOOKS LIKE

A true artist can find a canvas anywhere. For Eliza Bennett’s “A Woman’s Work Is Never Done”, she found her canvas right in the palm of her hand. Using only a needle and thread, Bennett took a painful stab at stitching the top layer of her own skin. The piece’s objective is to embody the wear and tear that can result from the traditional “women’s work” such as cleaning, caring and catering.  The result is a beautiful juxtaposition between feminine embroidery and the body’s response to manual labor.
