About the show

In Master of Photography, 12 amateur and professional photographers from all over Europe compete to be the last artist standing. Each week, they face a new task that tests their technical and artistic capabilities. Isabella Rossellini hosts and internationally renowned photographers Oliviero Toscani, Rut Blees Luxemburg and Simon Frederick judge the work of the contestants.

Meet the Cast

Isabella Rossellini


Isabella Rossellini has played many roles on camera. She is best known as the chanteuse character in David Lynch’s masterpiece Blue Velvet and as the socialite in the film Death Becomes Her. She also earned a Golden Globe nomination for the television movie Crime of the Century. Rossellini is the iconic face behind the beauty brand Lancôme.

Simon Frederick


Simon Frederick is a self-taught photographer whose celebrity portraiture, exhibition work, and global advertising campaigns have been widely recognized. He is described as an auteur for his ability to create stylized work that resonates emotionally with viewers.

Rut Blees Luxemburg


Rut Blees Luxemburg’s artworks deal with urban cities and range from large-scale photographs to public art installations. Her public art works include Piccadilly’s Peccadilloes, which was on display at the Heathrow Airport, and Silver Forest, which was rendered in concrete in the heart of Victoria.

Her photographs have also appeared as covers for albums for The Streets’ and Bloc Party. Her work is collected by many public institutions including the Tate Modern, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Pompidou Center.

Oliviero Toscani


Oliviero Toscani is internationally renowned as the creative force behind brands such as United Colors of Benetton, Esprit, Chanel, Fiorucci, Prenatal and many more. His fashion photography has appeared on Elle, Vogue, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, Esquire, Stern, and Liberation.

He has received awards from the Cannes Lion Festival, the UNESCO Grand Prix and the Art Directors Club in cities such as New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Milan.
