State Representative Matt Boehnke, Richland Mayor Michael Alvarez, and Pasco Mayor Blanche Barajas Will Join Spectrum and Ovation This Friday at Special Event to Honor DrewBoy Creative

Spectrum today announced DrewBoy Creative will receive $10,000 through the 2021-2022 Stand For The Arts Awards, a partnership with Ovation TV that recognizes local arts, cultural and educational organizations and programs. Since the initiative started in 2017, Ovation TV and Spectrum have given out 50 awards totaling $500,000 towards art education.

“By increasing access to the arts and arts education, DrewBoy Creative is doing outstanding work to enrich the lives of residents of the Tri-Cities,” said Adam Falk, Senior Vice President, State Government Affairs for Charter Communications, Inc., which operates the Spectrum brand of Internet, TV, Mobile and Voice services. “Our support of this initiative is yet another avenue for Spectrum to help make a positive impact in the communities it serves.”

DrewBoy Creative will use its 2021-2022 Stand For The Arts funding to support the general operational health of the organization, as well as an art installation at the Union Gospel Mission. In addition, a PSA highlighting DrewBoy Creative will air locally. Representative Matt Boehnke will join Spectrum and Ovation to present the $10,000 check to DrewBoy Creative as part of Sara Quinn’s “I Don’t Know Who Needs to Hear This” art show reception on Friday, May 20 from 4-9 p.m. with the award presentation at 6 p.m.

“It is an honor to join Spectrum and Ovation as part of its Stand For The Arts initiative to award Richland’s own DrewBoy Creative with this well-deserved grant,” said Representative Matt Boehnke. “I proudly support this initiative, as it shines a spotlight on the importance of the arts and cultural programming in our community.”

“We are honored to receive this award and excited for what it means for the DrewBoy Creative community. With this generous gift from Spectrum and Ovation, we will continue to be a creative space for the Tri-Cities and support artists who inspire and challenge the traditional school of thought related to art,” said Davin Diaz, Executive Director.

DrewBoy Creative is one of 15 organizations this year that will receive support in Spectrum markets across the country. Select arts organizations are awarded $10,000 Stand For The Arts contributions based on the following criteria: support of creative/artistic communities via economic and/or mental health recovery connected programs, commitment to accessibility and equity in the arts, and advocacy for underserved populations in their communities.

“We are thrilled to have the continued support of Spectrum as we recognize a landmark 50 arts organizations through our Stand For The Arts initiative,” said Sol Doten, Senior Vice President, Content Distribution and Partner Marketing for Ovation TV. “Now more than ever, it is imperative for us to support local arts organizations like DrewBoy Creative, as they have been fundamental in supporting their own communities.”
