SPECTRUM PARTNERS WITH OVATION TV TO SUPPORT FRIENDS OF SCHOOL OF THE ARTS  WITH $10,000 STAND FOR THE ARTS AWARD

Friends of School of the Arts Will Use Award to Support the Agency’s Programs and Events

Spectrum today announced Friends of School of the Arts will receive $10,000 through the 2021-2022 Stand For The Arts Awards, a partnership with Ovation TV that recognizes local arts, cultural, and educational organizations and programs. Since the initiative started in 2017, Ovation TV and Spectrum have given out 50 awards totaling $500,000 towards art education.

“By increasing access to the arts and arts education, Friends of School of the Arts is doing outstanding work to enrich the lives of residents of Rochester,” said Adam Falk, Senior Vice President, State Government Affairs for Charter Communications, Inc., which operates the Spectrum brand of Internet, TV, Mobile and Voice services. “Our support of this initiative is yet another avenue for Spectrum to help make a positive impact in the communities it serves.” 

Friends of School of the Arts will use its 2021-2022 Stand For The Arts funding to support the agency’s mission of academic, artistic, and humanistic success for School Of The Arts students. Representatives from Spectrum and Ovation TV will present the award to Friends of School of the Arts on February 7 at the School Of The Arts at 45 Prince Street in Rochester. Doors open at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public with plenty of available on-the-street parking. The presentation will commence at 6:30 p.m. with student group performances to follow. To live stream the event go to: www.sotarochester.org.

Friends of School of the Arts is recognized for its support of school activities and to financially assist students who need supplies and equipment such as arts supplies, dancewear, musical instruments and scores, and registration/competition fees. In addition to providing funding for field trips, master classes, guest artists, and other important classroom activities.

Friends of School of the Arts is one of 15 organizations receiving support in Spectrum markets across the country. Select arts organizations are awarded $10,000 Stand For The Arts contributions based on the following criteria: support of creative/artistic communities via economic and/or mental health recovery connected programs, commitment to accessibility and equity in the arts, and advocacy for underserved populations in their communities.
