A cinemagraph is a still photograph in which a minor and repeated movement occurs. While the technique existed before, the term cinemagraph wasn’t coined until 2011 by photographers Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck. They used this technique for their fashion and news photos. These animated GIFs by Julien Douvier are excellent examples of cinemagraphs. Douvier, from Strasbourg, France, is a graphic designer who has created some tranquil and stunning images. Enjoy this image-heavy post full of some of Douvier’s incredible cinemagraphs.
