Ovation TV, America’s only arts network, is pleased to announce the latest programming for its award-winning travel-entertainment digital channel, JOURNY. Every month, JOURNY premieres a new series, supported by a curated lineup of diverse programming, talent and destinations. For February 2022, the lineup’s theme is “Trekking Africa.” The monthly anchor, a JOURNY premiere, is a docuseries entitled On Safari that becomes available in its entirety starting on February 1.
Take a tour of Africa’s most spectacular safari lodges in the beautifully shot 4K travel series On Safari. From sunrise wildlife encounters at the watering hole to sunset cocktails by the pool, get a taste of luxury living at these extraordinary retreats. Combining comfort with adventure, Ghanaian-born host Sika Osei takes us into the heart of the African wild while indulging in the comfort and hospitality of the most incredible and luxurious Big 5 safari lodges on the continent.
Viewers will also enjoy a specially curated lineup of some of JOURNY’s favorite series for the “Trekking Africa” theme. Select series include:
Africa with Ade Adepitan
Alongside host Ade Adepitan, discover some of the most stunning landscapes of Africa: the active volcanoes of Cape Verde, the Indian Ocean coast of Mozambique; the Savannah of South Africa, the jungles of Gabon and much more. Ade also travels through some of the harsher climates of the continent as he visits the Somalian frontline of the war against Islamic extremism, patrols to counter the armed militia of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and witnesses some of the terrible atrocities caused by poachers.
Lost Kingdoms of Africa
British art historian and expert Dr. Gus Casely- Hayford explores the rich and vibrant histories of the African continent. He tells fascinating stories of their complex and sophisticated kingdoms: Asante, Zulu, Berber of Morocco, Bunyoro, and Buganda. Despite the lack of written records, the histories of these kingdoms emerge from artifacts and oral traditions of the people.
David Rocco’s Dolce Africa
David Rocco is on the road again! This time he tells the lesser-known stories of the world’s oldest continent: Africa. From ancient tribal villages and rural working farms to breathtaking natural parks and big bustling cities, David explores the rich and diverse cultures and culinary worlds of Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and South Africa with curiosity, an open heart, and an open mind.
