OVATION AND SPECTRUM ANNOUNCE MAYO STREET ARTS  AS STAND FOR THE ARTS AWARD RECIPIENT

Portland, Maine: Ovation, America’s only arts network, will join Spectrum to recognize and award Mayo Street Arts $10,000 as part of their Stand for the Arts joint initiative, which is dedicated to supporting local arts, cultural and educational organizations. Ovation and Spectrum will highlight this award on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m., at Mayo Street Arts, located at 10 Mayo Street in Portland.

The award will help Mayo Street Arts further its mission to engage area youths of diverse cultural communities in the visual, performing, and literary arts.

“We partnered with Spectrum here in Portland to recognize Mayo Street Art’s outstanding work as a highly creative arts organization and a key contributor to the community and the local economy,” said Sol Doten, Vice President of Content Distribution and Marketing for Ovation. “Spectrum has been a great partner and supporter of Ovation and we are extremely pleased they joined us in Portland and across the country for our Stand for the Arts Awards program.”

Stand for the Arts grant recipients are chosen based on three criteria: Level of community outreach and engagement, ability to create inclusive access to artistic programming, and innovative approach to arts education and skills development.

In addition to the monetary donation, Spectrum will also run public service announcements to highlight its Stand for the Arts partnership with Ovation and reinforce the value local arts organizations bring to communities across the country.
