OVATION AND SPECTRUM ANNOUNCE NORTHSIDE WORKSHOP AS STAND FOR THE ARTS AWARD RECIPIENT

ST. LOUIS: Ovation, America’s only arts network, will join Spectrum to recognize and award Northside Workshop $10,000 as part of their Stand for the Arts joint initiative, which is dedicated to supporting local arts, cultural and educational organizations. Ovation and Spectrum will highlight this award on, Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m., at Turn Restaurant, located at 3224 Locust St., St. Louis.

The award will be used for outreach to raise awareness of environmental issues and to promote the arts throughout the St. Louis area.

“We partnered with Spectrum here in St. Louis to recognize Northside Workshop’s outstanding work as a highly creative arts organization and a key contributor to the community and the local economy,” said Sol Doten, Vice President of Content Distribution and Marketing for Ovation. “Spectrum has been a great partner and supporter of Ovation and we are extremely pleased they joined us in St. Louis and across the country for our Stand for the Arts Awards program.”

“We’re proud to stand with Ovation to salute Northside Workshop for its innovative programming in St. Louis,” said Sean O’Donnell, Area Vice President of Field Operations. “Northside Workshop and all of this year’s Stand for the Arts Awards honorees, truly enrich the communities they serve.”

“Over the past five years, more than 500 individuals have participated in our programs that use beekeeping, gardening, cooking and the arts as a way of addressing cultural and community issues. This award and financial support will help us improve our bee sanctuary and deepen our arts programming to promote our message that a better environment for bees is a healthy environment for humans. We know that this support will help us continue to inspire people of all ages to be creative and promote environmental stewardship,” said Juan William Chavez, Founding Director, Northside Workshop.

In addition to the monetary donation, Spectrum will also run public service announcements to highlight its Stand for the Arts partnership with Ovation and reinforce the value local arts organizations bring to communities across the country.

Grant recipients were chosen based on three criteria: their level of community outreach and engagement; their ability to create inclusive access to artistic programming; and, their innovative approach to arts education and skills development.
