Season 10 of Murdoch Mysteries (formerly The Artful Detective on Ovation) continues to follow our heroes at the Toronto Constabulary as they solve crimes inspired by Canadian history and international celebrities of the early 20th century.
Season 11 of Murdoch Mysteries (formerly The Artful Detective on Ovation) begins with Murdoch jailed and framed for the murder of a burlesque dancer. His constables were gunned down in an ambush, Brackenreid was last seen with a gun to his head, and the corrupt politician and his cronies responsible kidnapped Ogden. Murdoch must prove his innocence from behind bars, as Detective Llewellyn Watts helps covertly to solve the case.
Season 12 of Murdoch Mysteries (formerly The Artful Detective on Ovation) begins with Detective Murdoch and Dr. Ogden seeing their dream house come to life. In the first episode, Frank Lloyd Wright pays a visit to the new house and Downton Abbey’s Sophie McShera guest stars as Wright’s associate.
Ogden discovers a new passion and studies to be a surgeon, while Murdoch explores new prospects at work. Crabtree is nursing a broken heart and may be romantically doomed. Brackenreid’s world is turned upside down when he’s struck by personal and professional tragedy. Meanwhile, Higgins has become an insufferable snob as he readies to marry his socialite fiancé. Watts finds his career jeopardized after he’s involved in an altercation that leaves an ex-con dead. At the morgue, Violet Hart takes on more responsibilities and seeks a promotion.
Who else makes guest appearances this season? An alien, Florence Nightengale Graham, and inventor Nikola Tesla!
Season 13 of Murdoch Mysteries continues to explore the personal and professional lives of Detective William Murdoch and Dr. Julia Ogden. With the help of his associates Inspector Thomas Brackenreid and Constables George Crabtree, Detective Murdoch tackles Toronto’s toughest mysteries, from the serious and historic to the comical and unusual.
Among Murdoch's new inventions is a “searchizer” device that measures facial features and matches them with existing police files. He is still suspicious of the newly appointed coroner Violet Hart. He doesn’t completely trust her abilities or motives. Special Constable Robert Parker, an African American former Pinkerton who went from suspect in a union murder, also joins the station to help solve the case.
Season 14 begins with Detective Murdoch's signature inventions and trusted advice from Dr. Julia Ogden. But their life is upended when an investigation leads Murdoch to a young son he never knew about.
Throughout the season, Murdoch and Ogden cross paths with a motley gang of vaudeville performers, including Charlie Chaplin, Stan Laurel, and Buster Keaton.
Murdoch and his associates also find themselves trapped in a frightening puzzle room where violent, painful death is the only form of escape.
